Miss Newton, made to swear allegiance to the Confederacy by her dying father, acts as a bearer of secret information to Richmond. Loved by a Union officer, Major Robert Goddard, she finds herself in a distressing predicament upon her arrest under the double and sinister charge of treason and murder.
