August Derleth

August Derleth was an American author born on February 24, 1909, in Sauk City, Wisconsin. He is best known for his contributions to the horror and science fiction genres, particularly as a key figure in the Cthulhu Mythos, a shared universe created by H.P. Lovecraft. Derleth not only expanded upon Lovecraft’s themes but also created his own unique mythos, blending elements of traditional folklore with cosmic horror. His literary career spanned several decades, during which he published novels, short stories, and essays, always with a keen interest in the intersection of nature and the supernatural.

In addition to his fiction, Derleth was a dedicated publisher and co-founder of Arkham House, which aimed to bring Lovecraft's work to a wider audience. His passion for literature extended beyond his own writing, as he championed many authors of the weird and fantastic genres. If you're curious to dive into the worlds he crafted or explore his thoughts on literature, you’ll find a rich selection of his works in the app. Happy listening!
