Big Jon and Sparkie, rare shows

(5 estrellas; 11 reseñas)

Enjoy these very rare episodes of Big Jon and Sparkie. This collection includes the show that fills a gap in the middle of almost all compilations: AR2 Yukie Takes The Stand. It features the rest of Yukie's appearance in court as he attempts to claim the reward offered by the city while he was missing and everyone was searching for him.

The other shows continue from exactly where existing compilations end, making this a must-have for fans of the series.

Sparkie is special!

(5 estrellas)

I really enjoy and recommend this charming children's serial. It features a good-hearted but recalcitrant, obstreperous, smart-alecky and romance-hating little boy from the 'Land of Make Believe' and the highly-imaginative adventures he shares with his adopted guardian Big Jon, who works for a radio station in Cincinnati. Many thanks to whoever furnished us these hard to find episodes!

Big Jon and Sparkie changed my life

I cannot find the show, but I know it was out there. I remember it, to this day. Jon describes what an atom is. He describes the planetary model of the atom, the nucleus, and the shells of the electrons. WOW, I thought that WONDERFUL. Here I started my life with Physics. Meanwhile, I grew up, got a BS, MS and PhD in Applied Physics with a specialty in Laser Physics at Stanford. Well I still think the atom is wonderful, and it started right HERE, with Big Jon. I think I was 4 , and am now 74. It has been a good trip, all these years with my friend, the atom. My thanks to Big Jon and Sparkie, long may their programs play.

"Lost" shows

My seven year old daughter loves these. She has listened to every one of the "Adventures" (doesn't like No School Today so much). I have heard that that there are additional installments of the Adventures floating around including a story arc in which the gang visits Europe. Apparently, it played on a Christian station several years ago. Does anyone know where these can be found? We are certainly willing to pay.

Wonderful radio fantasy created by Jon Arthur - here's a WIKI link to the show …

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Arthur At WSAI in Cincinnati, Arthur began the Big Jon and Sparkie show, carried daily on 181 ABC stations beginning in 1950.[6] ABC also aired his two-hour Saturday show, No School Today, heard weekly by 12 million listeners on 275 stations.[7] The show's theme song was "Teddy Bears' Picnic" as sung by Ann Stephens. I too, was a lucky kid in Tallahassee, Fla who listened to the ABC Broadcast ... it was a real adventure "sit-com" of a show, with Big Jon working the daily life into adventures as distant, in some cases, as an airplane adventure to somewhere in South America, as I remember...and I see adventures listed as Yukie's Magic Travel Machine. Since my Dad was in an adventure called the Korean War, and he was lucky to be stationed in a place called Hokaido, Japan, I was ready for some imaginary fun adventure myself. I can't wait!
