The Secret Garden
Leído por Karen Savage
In Frances Hodgson Burnett's enchanting tale, young Mary Lennox is an orphan sent to live with her reclusive uncle in the sprawling moors of Yorkshire. Isolated and lonely, Mary discovers a hidden world within the walls of her uncle's estate—a secret garden that has been locked away for years.
As Mary begins to explore this forgotten space, she uncovers not only the garden's beauty but also the transformative power of nature and friendship. Along the way, she meets new companions, including the ailing Colin Craven and the spirited Dickon, who help her learn about healing, growth, and the importance of connection.
Set against the backdrop of the English countryside, this classic story weaves themes of resilience and renewal, inviting listeners to reflect on the magic that can flourish in even the most desolate places. Join Mary on her journey of discovery and witness how a hidden garden can change lives forever.

I love this book. Truly. I love reading the written version and I love listening to this version. I laugh and I cry and I smile and I want to jump for joy every time. I couldn't recommend it more.

This is my 3rd or 4th book read by Karen Savage. She has become a favorite reader. She seems to favor the best books, such as The Secret Garden, and as a reader, has the unique ability to bring a story to life without overdoing it, letting the listener forget he's being read to. Karen did an especially good job on this story, which depended significantly on the "broad Yorkshire" dialect. She read it beautifully with a very convincing accent.

Favorite book of all time! I read it as a girl and I have loved it for over 30 years. Karen Savage is my favorite LibriVox reader. Just beautiful. If you haven’t heard her yet, you’re in for a treat. She brings such life to any story. All of her reads are saved to my favorites library.
A New Favorite!

A compelling, entertaining and moving story brought vividly to life by a gifted reader. Her different voices and accents differentiate the characters and move the plot, and made it difficult to take a break from the story. I’m now seeking out other stories read by Karen Savage-thanks for kindly volunteering!

Beautifully written with detailed descriptions. At times, I felt as if I were really there in the secret garden with the children. A lovely book. Karen Savage’s reading is non-parallel. She acts the parts and sings the songs with finesse and warmth.

As a writer, I don't think I'm able to describe and convey 8 to 12 year old kids' emotions and manners like this amazing writer did. The way she makes you like and dislike the two mane characters, understand them but find them annoying at the same time... The way she makes you dive deep into every corner of her beautiful little world in Yorkshire... We had a cartoon about it when I was a kid, I never saw it but it has a huge fanbase in the Arab world. Now, I understand why.

A tender, soul-refreshing story that blooms slowly and beautifully—just like the garden at its heart. It follows Mary, Colin, and Dickon as they uncover not only a locked garden, but parts of themselves long forgotten. This is a book about healing, friendship, and the quiet magic of nature. Watching Colin transform, and especially the moment he runs into his father's arms—pure joy. A reminder that hope, once planted, can grow even in the most hidden places. Sweet, short, and filled with life—The Secret Garden is a timeless treasure.
